Both Flitcham and West Newton schools hold their Mothering Sunday service during the week before. At each church the children all hold hands and form a circle around the outside of the church. With the help of parents and staff we normally manage to get all the way round!! This medieval practice called Clypping shows respect and love for the Mother church which cares for us throughout our lives.
I am always keen to remind the children that it is Mothering Sunday and not Mothers Day. So as well as giving thanks for our mothers, we also remember all those who care for us and for the Church.
