This year's Remembrance Sunday, which appropriately falls on November 11th, marks the 100 years of the finish of the First World War. We will be having special events at Sandringham church to mark this occasion. These are as follows:
6.00 am - 'Rest In Peace' - A lone piper will be playing outside the church, the traditional Scottish lament played at the end of a battle, 'the Battle's O're'. This is to coincide with up to an additional 1000 pipers playing the same lament, at the same time, outside churches up and down the country.
10.50 am -There will be the normal British Legion ceremony at Sandringham and Castle Rising churches.
18.55 - There will be an Act of Remembrance which we hope will include all those who died in the war from our group of parishes and a Bugler will play the last post, followed by the lighting of a beacon symbolising the end to the darkness of war and a return to the light of peace. Following this, there will be a fireworks display.
