The Sunday School outside West Newton Church

The Sunday School meets at 9.15 every Sunday during term time in West Newton Church. It is open to children who live in the group of churches or who attend West Newton or Flitcham Church Schools.

On Sunday 5th February, children from the Sunday school and choristers in the Sandringham choir were presented by Her Majesty with prizes for good attendance through out 2016. It is a very happy event, much anticipated by the children and completed with the Sunday school children performing their annual play. This year it was Jonah and the Whale.

Sunday School Annual Report 2016/2017

2016 was another encouraging year for Sunday School. The Prizegiving in February was a happy occasion and the children performed the play “Talitha Cumi” -
Little Girl Arise. The action centred on the visit of Jesus to the Sandringham/Dersingham area. The modern approach proved to be very popular with our members and the congregation.
The annual Easter Egg Hunt took place on Easter Sunday. One hundred and sixty five eggs were hidden and one hundred and sixty four were retrieved!
Parents and teachers enjoyed the summer barbeque and rounders match at the Rectory. Thank you to the Rector and Clare.
In November some of the older children took part in an Entertainment Evening in West Newton Village Hall, they are to be congratulated on their amusing account of what they and the world might be like by the time they reach the age of ninety.
Sunday School members and adult helpers manned a stall at the Village Fair. It was good to see us as part of the local community alongside all the church activities.
The year ended with preparation for Prizegiving in February 2017. The play was “Jonah and the Whale” and twenty two children received Sunday School prizes. We thank the Rector, Clare and the Churchwardens for their support throughout the year. Our thanks also go to the children, their parents and the long suffering helpers for all their love and support and, finally our gratitude to Mrs. Bernice Allen for her leadership and devotion, without which much of the above would not have happened.
