Flitcham and West Newton Pupils Clypp the Church for Mothering Sunday.

Both Flitcham and West Newton schools hold their Mothering Sunday services during the week before. At each church the children all hold hands and form a circle around the outside of the church. With the help of parents and staff we normally manage to get all the way around. We then give 3 cheers for the church.

This medieval practice is known as 'Clypping the Church' and shows respect and love for our Mother church which cares for us through out our lives.

I am always keen to remind the children that it is Mothering Sunday and not Mothers Day. So as well as giving thanks for our mothers, we also remember all those who care for us and for the Church.
